Principal Engineer - Nuclear Substantiation

£79.17 per hour umbrella / £68.72 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Title: Principal Engineer - Nuclear Substantiation

Location: Remotely based. Must be prepared to attend BAE Systems Barrow-in-Furness site for short periods as required. Sufficient notice will be given.


What you will be doing:

· Reviewing and authoring nuclear substantiation documentation to support the site safety case
· Reviewing calculations & analysis work
· Supporting periodic review of safety
· Expected to demonstrate a high level of autonomy and ownership of deliverables
· Supporting implementation of substantiation requirements
· Support Maintenance Reviews
· Work closely with the Engineering Authority team of specific/allocated assets
· Work closely with Human Factors and Site Safety case Teams
· Support the development of other Nuclear Substantiation team members
· Support wider business on Nuclear substantiation related activities.


Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

· Hold a current security clearance (minimum SC level)
· Be able to work as part of a team
· Broad understanding of multiple engineering discipline
· Experience in nuclear, other high hazard, or highly regulated industry
· Ability to produce high quality technical reports
· Tenacity driving all deliverable associated activities through due process to close out
· Stakeholder management ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders on multiple levels.


Desirable

· Experience of nuclear substantiation or safety case
· Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council and a member of a relevant professional body
· Degree qualified in a STEM subject.


The Engineering - Nuclear Substantiation Team:

You will be joining an ever-expanding team with some great development opportunities both in the technical and managerial streams. You will benefit from a broad spectrum of involvement in all of the Barrow Site Nuclear Substantiation and safety related activities, working closely with the Site Engineering Authority, Safety Case and Operations teams. This will include a wide variety of assets to be involved with (Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Electrical, Radiological, Chemical/Process).
