Waste and Industrial Services Focal Point

  • Location: Barrow-in-Furness
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Waste and Industrial Services Focal Point to act as the main contact for all waste and industrial services (IS) work enquiries at our clients Barrow-in-Furness site. This role involves maintaining the waste compound to company standards and ensuring effective communication of waste information internally, to clients, and to subcontractors. The successful candidate will also scope and quote projects with the support of the management team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare and deliver reports as required by site staff and management.
  • Coordinate and handle internal waste enquiries, ensuring prompt availability of information and samples to the support team.
  • Oversee the transfer of waste from offshore to onshore containers for disposal.
  • Liaise with the team across sites, assisting with setup and demobilisation.
  • Maintain safe storage of all waste streams, ensuring the waste compound is compliant and tidy.
  • Maintain waste compound inventory logs and equipment inventories.
  • Manage bookings for skips, tankers, and packaged waste removals.
  • Supervise waste subcontractors and conduct duty of care audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and deliver CIWM WasteSmart training.
  • Keep up to date with all online training and maintain records to standards required by site personnel and management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Forklift truck licence.
  • Basic HSEQ certification (Desirable)
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • IT literacy.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working on waste/gas/terminal plants.
  • BA training and high health & safety awareness.
  • Capable of issuing and working with Risk Assessments/Method Statements (RA/MS).
