Principal Product Environmental Safety Engineer
Pay: £65 PAYE (£74.45 ph Inclusive of holiday pay) or £87.83 ph Umbrella
Location: Barrow,1 or 2 days a month onsite (rest remote)
Contract length: 12 months

The Principal Product Environmental Safety Engineer shall provide support to the Engineering Delivery Manager in the development, delivery and maintenance of the Project Product Environmental Management System and Product Environmental Case to ensure that the Product Environmental impact is reduced to an acceptable level.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
• Develop, implement and maintain the Environmental Management System.
• Produce and manage Project Environmental Management Plans.
• Lead Product Environmental Product Environmental impact and risk identification, management and assessment activities.
• Provide Product Environmental engineering advice to the wider BAE Systems community.
• Oversee the administration and management of the Environmental Impact and Risk register.
• Influence the construction and delivery of the Project Environmental Case including Environmental Case reports.
• Support the production of training material to support training delivery.
• Deliver training to the Product safety and Product Environmental domains and the wider BAE Systems community.
• Lead engagement with internal and external customers, ensuring that their requirements are fully considered and adequately supported where appropriate and agreed.
• Produce, present and articulate clear and logical environmental arguments.
• Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Environmental Case and supporting documentation.
• Oversee and peer review junior rules in the Product Environmental team.
• Understand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and HSandE Management System documentation.
• Support the appropriate meetings and Working Groups.
• Chair Environmental impact and risk identification meetings.
• Support the development of realistic programme status updates, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans.
• Lead appropriate meetings and Working Groups.
• Environmental Management System development and maintenance.
• Production of Environmental Management Plans.
• Environmental impact and risk identification and management.
• Product Environmental requirements management.
• Product Environmental case production.
Key Skillset:
• Demonstrable knowledge with areas of specialism relating to design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing, in-service (maintenance and operations) and decommissioning/disposal submarine lifecycle phases.
• The ability to analyse complex problems and identify the most critical issues.
• To be able to identify and quantify (i.e. screen and scope) all environmental issues to determine those that are critical/significant and those that are minor/trivial and develop suitable and appropriate solutions/mitigations/control measures.
• Ability to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust environmental arguments that demonstrably support environmental decision-making.
