Senior Radiography Inspector
- 12 month contract
- Rate PAYE: £37.82 + £5.50 holiday pay or UMB: £48.99
- 3 on 4 off shift, 12 hours day shift

To work as part of a team to provide Radiography and supplementary NDE support to the business, specifically on high integrity pipework and structure welding on submarines

Strong understanding of the end to end process of Radiography principles and applying these to support submarine build.

Conversant with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and radiological safety in industrial environments.

Carrying out routine work with limited supervision and complex tasks under direct supervision in their related area
Open Shop (Site Radiography), which involves moving around the Barrow site and on board Submarine build
• Being able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and Management Systems documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards and Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all Hs & E rules and control measures.
• Liaising/Interfacing with appropriate areas both internally and externally to ensure work schedule and results are communicated to the appropriate areas
• Understanding and interpreting of Radiography Techniques, highlighting any non-conformances for inspections undertaken and report via SAP and the relevant Data Bases
• Reporting results of Inspections using agreed process
• Using Company Computer Systems Software as appropriate
• Positive engagement with stakeholders on radiography activities
• Provide support and guidance on the build process throughout a multi-disciplined environment
• Offers advice on radiography best practice activities across submarines
• Highly proficient in the use of radiographic inspection equipment
• Interpreting and applying Gamma and X-ray techniques for compound and site Radiography
• Supporting supplementary surface inspections such as DPI and MPI
• Update and record findings in the quality repositories for report storage
• Support learning and on the job training of S2 radiography inspectors
• Carrys out routine maintenance and functional checks on processing equipment and supportscalibration of equipment
• Carrys out daily function and safety checks on Radiography enclosures
• Input on radiation protection discussions with colleagues in the department
• Be part of a contingency team for radiation contingency plans

Core Duties

• PCN level 2 qualifications (NDE) – Dye-Penetrant Inspection
• Ability to operate Radiographic equipment and translate data
• Understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR 2017)
• Sound computer skills Microsoft Office suite
• Good knowledge of IRR 2017
• PCN ARS Qualification
• Experience working with Gamma Radiography (Ir192 & Se75)
• Knowledge and understanding of various structural & pipework practices.
