Our client, a prominent player in the defence and security sector, is currently looking for a Principal Engineer - Fire & Explosion Safety Engineer (DSEAR) to join their team on a contract basis in Barrow-in-Furness.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking a lead role across Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering (DSEAR) risk assessments and compliance activities for new and existing submarine manufacturing facilities
  • Co-ordinating the work programmes of team members to meet strategic explosion safety objectives at the site in Barrow-in-Furness
  • Leading the on-going development of the fire safety team across a number of projects for buildings and submarine platforms
  • Mentoring and developing engineers within the team
  • Monitoring, recording, and reporting against key performance indicators for Explosion Safety through various key stakeholder groups
  • Developing, producing, and maintaining Explosion Safety process documentation and management strategies


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in Health & Safety Management within the defence sector
  • Strong expertise in Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering (DSEAR)
  • Proven ability to lead and co-ordinate team activities
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining safety documentation
  • Excellent mentoring and development skills
  • Ability to monitor and report on key performance indicators


Contract Details:

  • Location: Barrow-in-Furness
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Number of days on-site: 2-3 days in the office per week
