Our client is a Mutual Building Society with roots in its heartland, South Cumbria, but with a growing national presence due to its digitisation and distribution strategy. They do this by providing mortgage and savings products to Members. They foster a warm, friendly, open, and fun culture and are serious about the work they do which is about making a difference.

The main purpose of the Project Manager is to support the delivery of Change initiatives within the Transformation and wider Change Programme that will underpin the short-term objectives and longer-term Business Strategy (5 Year Strategic Plan). This will involve the management and delivery of various projects to support this program, with a focus in the shorter / medium term of candidates with experience of delivering large scale IT change which includes Cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Manager:

  • To lead and project manage large-scale business and technology transformation projects
  • Utilise the application of Project Management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, Scrums etc. where appropriate, implementing governance frameworks
  • Management of dependencies across major projects and change programs
  • Managing all aspects of delivery including project scope, timeline, risks, issues and budget. This should also include support with business cases, producing PID’s and business realisation
  • Organise people, tasks and resources to bring about a successful conclusion
  • Drive implementation of best practice in risk policies and governance frameworks
  • Develop and foster clear and direct communication across the entire project team and wider audience where appropriate
  • Gather, validate / sense check and analyse complex, multiple and contradictory data to make objective interpretations, which are then summarised and simplified for the benefit of the business and stakeholders.

Key skills & experience required of the Project Manager

  • Proven experience project managing large scale IT infrastructure changes
  • Proven experience of project managing cloud migrations, ideally AWS
  • Strong attention to detail, high standard of accuracy and analytical skills
  • Report writing and presentation skills at Board/Senior management level preferable
  • Recent experience within financial services, preferably mortgages & savings related

Working across so many key projects with key stakeholders, this is not a role that can be undertaken remotely. They ask for a minimum of 2 days in the office, more on occasions when required. Some of the specific benefits include Bonus, Pension, 27 days holiday plus volunteer days, life Insurance and much more. If you are looking for a rounded Project Manager role with responsibility across all key company projects, and can commute to the South Cumbria region regularly, we would love to hear from you.
