- Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
- Developing design solutions based on customer or internally derived requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
- Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers.
- Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
- Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned projects or work packages, ensuring that requirements are delivered to plan.
- Populate design development documentation using a Formal Design Review process (FDR) through the stages of:
- Requirements & Root Cause Analysis
- Developing Candidate Solutions
- Candidate down selection and risk reduction
- Development for manufacture
- Qualification
- Concept generation and development of weapons sub systems.
- Weight optimization of systems / structures via re-design and / or use of advanced materials.
Essential
- Analytical skills
- Problem solving skills
- Presentation / report writing skills
- Good communication skills and ability to operate at all levels within the company and with the customer
- Experienced in CAD (ideally PTC Creo)
Desirable
- Engineering background in a weapons system or design for military use.
- Structural / Stress analysis (MS Excel, Mathcad, FEA {PTC Simulate / Ansys})
- System control (Matlab /Simulink)
- Hydraulic system design
- Material selection and manufacturing techniques
Product Lifecycle Management Tool experience (ideally Teamcenter)
