Sonic Summary

The Systems Engineer - IVV position is located in Barrow-in-Furness, requiring 3–4 days on-site work per week.
This is a 12-month contract role with a weekly commitment of 37 hours and an hourly rate of £65.19 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35).
Candidates must possess a solid understanding and hands-on experience with Control & Instrumentation systems, along with strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle methodologies.
The role involves leading the integration and testing of multi-disciplinary sub-systems, developing technical specifications, and managing system engineering documentation.
A minimum of several years of relevant experience is required, and the role may include coaching and mentoring junior engineers.

Interpret complex technical requirements to support IV&V strategy execution.
Design and develop technical specifications and support systems integration.
Develop and manage systems engineering documentation including requirements, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
Lead the integration and testing of multi-disciplinary sub-systems (electronic, mechanical, software).
Ensure systems meet customer needs through robust qualification and test activities.
Provide technical leadership on work packages and Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems.
Apply systems lifecycle best practices throughout test system development.
Coach and mentor junior engineers and, at this level, have the opportunity to line manage.
Support customers in-service and troubleshoot technical issues.

Required Skills and Experience

Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Control & Instrumentation systems.
Strong knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies.
Familiarity with relevant Defence and Industry Standards (e.g. IEC 61508/61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C/DO-254).
Experience leading design and verification work packages.
