  • They will need excellent analytical skills to produce Credit Risk Management Information and reports for management and Board committees.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, analytical candidate to our Credit Risk Team. The role would suit either an experienced Credit Risk Manager looking to add value within a smaller Financial Services organisation with a family feel, or a talented and analytical candidate with Financial Services experience who is hoping to use their skills to move into their first 2nd line Risk position.

The successful candidate will report to the Risk Director and will have responsibility for 2nd line Credit Risk Management. With an eye for detail, the Credit Risk Analyst/Credit Risk Manager will produce Credit Risk Management Information in the context of macroeconomic threats and regulatory expectations. They will compile reports for management and Board committees providing insight into the risk profile of the Society and assurance that the Society is operating within the Board approved Risk Appetite. The successful candidate will need to have excellent analytical skills to be able to competently manipulate and translate complex information into a digestible format that aligns with business objectives.

Here at the Marsden, working together is part of our core values, and the Credit Risk Analyst/Manager will embody collaboration, building relationships with colleagues from all areas of the organisation and providing supportive challenge. If experienced, the successful candidate will be confident carrying out proportionate 2nd line risk assurance reviews and will support the Finance Team and Risk Director in stress and scenario analysis to assess required capital for credit risk within the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP). If developing their career, the successful candidate will receive support to enable them to ultimately carry out these duties independently.

We are a smaller organisation, and as such, all of our colleagues all have the ability to enjoy breadth within their role, as well as utilising and developing their specialist skills. This Credit Risk Analyst/Management post is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to obtain exposure to wider areas of Risk, perhaps as part of their own career development. The successful postholder will have the opportunity to provide support to the Risk Director, while also obtaining a greater understanding of both Operational and Prudential Risk.

So what’s in it for you as our Credit Risk Analyst/Manager?

Rated outstanding for employee engagement (Best Companies 2023), we are a progressive organisation that values individuality and diversity. We are signed up to the Women in Finance Charter and are proud to have a 55% female Senior Management Team. We are an accredited Living Wage Employer and operate with purpose. In 2022 we set up our Charitable Foundation, and we are always looking for ways in which we can better support our communities.

While this role is being advertised on a full-time basis (working 5 days / 35 hours per week), we acknowledge that people have different commitments, and would be happy to consider applicants on a part-time or job-share basis. Similarly, while the successful Credit Risk Manager will need to attend our Head Office in Nelson for 30% of their working week, we have embraced hybrid working and aren’t restricted by geography. Hiring the right person who shares our values and demonstrates the key skills required for this role is far more important to us than rigid working patterns and where someone chooses to live.

In addition to the competitive salary on offer (dependent on experience), we also provide an attractive suite of benefits including a generous annual leave entitlement, contributory pension scheme (with 10% employer contribution), life assurance, simply health cover, and discounted memberships.
