We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join our team at a welcoming primary school in Barry. This is a long-term role offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of the school.
Location: Lovely Primary School, Barry
Start Date: January
Pay Rate: 12 per hour
Hours: Split shifts (7am - 9am and 3:15pm - 4:45pm)
Key Responsibilities:
- Opening and locking the school premises: Ensure the school is secure and ready for the day, including unlocking in the morning and securing the building after use.
- General maintenance and repairs: Address minor maintenance issues promptly and liaise with external contractors when required.
- Health and safety: Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including fire alarm tests and risk assessments.
- Grounds maintenance: Keep the school grounds clean and tidy, including sweeping, clearing litter, and occasional gardening.
- Stock management: Monitor and restock cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed.
- Event support: Assist with setting up rooms for school events or activities.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role (preferred).
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- A responsible and punctual individual with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (essential).
