We are looking for an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our client who is a well-established local sub-contractor that specialise in drylining, internal fit-outs, and painting works. This role is predominantly office-based in Barry, with occasional site visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating (80%):
    • Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for drylining, internal works, and painting projects.
    • Review project specifications, tender documents, and drawings.
    • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and ensure competitive pricing.
    • Prepare cost breakdowns and assist in bid proposals.
  • Quantity Surveying (20%):
    • Assist with cost management throughout project lifecycles.
    • Conduct valuations, variations, and prepare final accounts.
    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost control and effective budget management.
    • Manage procurement and liaise with suppliers and contractors.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in drylining, internal works, and painting sectors.
  • Strong estimating skills, with a good understanding of pricing and cost control.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant estimating software and MS Office.
  • Full UK driving licence (car not provided, but mileage allowance available).
  • Competitive salary between 45,000 and 50,000, depending on experience.
  • Mileage allowance for site visits.
