Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit. You’ll help deliver an exciting, dynamic and high-quality visitor programme all year round.

There is an expectation to work a minimum of one weekend day a month, with additional days during busy seasons, such as school holidays. There is occasional evening working.

You'll be part of the Visitor Experience team, working alongside colleagues in welcome, marketing, interpretation, and family programming, as well as working with teams across the property.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work with the Experience and Visitor Programming Manager on developing new and ambitious seasonal programming - seeking to find new ways to inspire others, engage visitors with our work, and tell our stories. You'll be responsible for delivering and developing key elements of our core visitor programme, such as our seasonal walks offer and volunteer-led talks and tours. The main focus of the role will be on developing seasonal programming for adults for a variety of life stages and interests.

You'll manage volunteer teams, ensuring they have a great volunteering experience and that they are well equipped to help visitors have a great day. You’ll support the smooth running of the visitor operation as a duty manager and daily visitor experience lead, ensuring everything is working as it should and helping teams out where needed, especially on busy days.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you’re:

  • experience of delivering activities within the arts, culture, heritage, natural environment, sports or visitor attraction sector. 
  • experience of working with and supervising volunteers. 
  • good organisational skills, and the ability to time manage projects successfully
  • experience of reviewing audience feedback and using it to improve the visitor offer, including contributing to planning future events, activities and visitor programming.
  • good people skills, able to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners 
  • good communication skills, able to write well and with an understanding of the importance of visual design
