We are seeking a Technology Teacher for a fantastic school located outside Cardiff in Barry. This school has a fantastic community feel with a staff force dedicated to supporting each other and pupils through daily life. Working within a strong department you will be required to support other teachers covering Design Tech, Food Tech and other skills based lessons. All staff at the school feedback that it is a warm and welcoming place to work with some staff having exceeded 15 years employment. With great emphasis on student behaviour and conduct all staff and pupils have good relationships making this school a great place to be. 

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in Technology subjects.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils and by organising learning resources and the classroom environment.
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and disciplinary systems.
  • Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent meetings, and whole school training events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience in teaching Design Technology, Food Technology, or related subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and specialist knowledge in the technology subjects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, stamina, patience, dedication, resilience and self-discipline.
  • Initiative, leadership and supervisory skills and teamworking abilities.
