Community Assistant Viking Centre, Barton

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? The Viking Centre in Barton is seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Community Assistant to join their team on a temporary, ongoing basis to cover maternity leave.

Hours: 8 per week (minimum), with flexibility for additional hours during summer activities and evening youth club cover.

Contract Duration
: Until at least September, with potential to extend for the right candidate.

Weekly Schedule:

  • Tuesdays: 1:00 PM 2:30 PM (Supporting adult activities)
  • Wednesdays: 3:30 PM 6:00 PM (Supporting Tea Time Club)
  • Thursdays: 10:00 AM 2:00 PM (Community Café)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and facilitating community activities for various age groups.
  • Assisting with events, including preparation and clean-up.
  • Engaging with participants to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Providing flexible cover for summer daytime activities and evening youth club sessions (Monday and Thursday evenings).

Requirements:

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and additional hours as needed.
  • Eligible for an Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by us).
  • Willingness to undertake a basic food hygiene course (cost covered by us).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
