Financial Controller/Company Accountant

Basildon

Up to £70,000 plus benefits (depending on experience)

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5.30pm

One to One are proud to be working with an innovative, market leading manufacturing business based in Basildon, Essex. Thanks to a continuing demand in business, our client is recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller/Company Accountant who will manage company budgets, process reviews, support the continuous improvement strategy of Finance systems and processes, and cover financial, regulatory, and internal accounting delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance/accountancy and be fully qualified. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be proficient in advanced Microsoft Office systems. A 'hands-on’ individual, with strong leadership skills and the ability to maintain and build excellent working relationships with internal and external parties.

To be considered for this role you must have at least 5 years UK based work experience.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Construction of statutory and management accounts, dealing with regulatory and audit requirements
  • Preparing and issuing reporting in timely fashion (e.g. Ad hoc costings, Cashflow, CVR reporting, Gross Profit analysis)
  • Responsibility of accuracy, controls and reconciliation accounts, (including VAT, CIS, PAYE)
  • Oversee management of payroll and sub-contractor payments process, including legislative requirements

Support the continuous improvement of Finance systems

  • Support ongoing review of systems, processes, procedures and controls to;
    • Improve the efficiency of end to end business processes
    • Ensure compliance, reduce risk, and improve security
  • Ensure all systems and associated processes are fully/clearly documented
  • Communication ensuring Senior Management/sponsors are aware of project status (RAID)

Project Management

  • Day to day activities and help drive of projects to ensuring delivery in accordance with plan, time, budget
  • Technical problem solving to overcome obstacles, providing options/proposals
  • Ensure projects are sufficiently/clearly documented throughout their life cycle

Management

  • Manage day to day activities to ensure demand is managed, whilst staff motivated
  • Reduce risk of Single Person Dependency, Segregation of Duties issues by training and management

Undertake any other duties within your skills confidence

  • Ensure continuous improvement of role and development of self
  • Seek to continuously improve the quality and value of administrative support provided by working with key colleagues

Adherence with regulatory/business compliance responsibilities

  • Responsible for positively contributing to a safe work environment to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure governance obligations, eg Protecting personal information in adherence GDPR etc.
  • Complete all mandatory Health and Safety training and any corporate refresher training where required.

Responsible for coordinating and communication

  • Support other teams, to help ease demand and/or as required
  • Enable clear communication to help ensure that the key objectives for the wider team are achieved
