Strategic Relationships and Democracy Manager (Strategic Support Manager)

Key Responsibilities:

  • This is a pivotal position where you will provide personal support to the Chief Executive, Executive Director, and Assistant Director.
  • You will ensure all arrangements and activities are legally compliant and fit for purpose, applying your deep sector knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and policies.
  • In this role, you will lead a dynamic team, delivering proactive, collaborative, and effective support to the Chief Executive and other members of the Leadership Team.
  • Your work will be crucial in shaping and maintaining strategic relationships, supporting processes, and ensuring smooth governance operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a local authority or public sector setting.
  • Strong political awareness with the ability to identify issues and risks and provide strategic advice to senior leaders.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inform a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in writing comprehensive reports for consideration by senior leadership teams.
  • Proven line management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop team members.
