Highways Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Highways Supervisor to oversee the construction, maintenance, and repair of highways and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of highway operations, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Supervision:

Oversee daily on-site activities, including construction, maintenance, and repair work on highways.

Ensure efficient resource allocation, including labour, materials, and equipment.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies.

Conduct regular safety briefings and site inspections.

Quality Control:

Monitor and inspect work to ensure it meets project specifications and industry standards.

Identify and resolve issues promptly to maintain project quality.

Team Management:

Lead and manage a team of operatives and subcontractors, ensuring high performance and motivation.

Provide training and mentorship to team members as needed.

Play a key role in the development of the business.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with the Project Manager, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.

Maintain accurate records of work progress, delays, and any issues.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

Act as the primary point of contact on-site for clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

Communicate project updates and address concerns professionally.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare daily site reports, safety checklists, and progress updates for management.

Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in highway construction, maintenance, and supervision.

In-depth knowledge of highway construction techniques, materials, and equipment.

Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Valid CSCS card and other relevant safety certifications.

Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications:

SMSTS or SSSTS certification.

First Aid at Work certification.

Experience in working with local authorities and managing resource.

Working Conditions:

Field-based role requiring work in varying weather conditions.

Occasional out-of-hours work, including weekends and night shifts.
