A well-established company based in Laindon, Essex, is seeking an Electrical Design Draughtsman to join its Automation Department. The company operates from a purpose-built design, engineering, and headquarters facility, employing around 60 staff at this location.
Specializing in the design and assembly of filling and packaging lines for aerosols, the company serves industries such as pharmaceutical and cosmetics. Core equipment is sourced from leading manufacturers in Switzerland and integrated with custom-designed conveyors, enclosures, air handling systems, electrical control systems, and ancillary equipment.
All panel building, wiring, and PLC programming are carried out on-site, alongside specialized departments focusing on pneumatics, can handling, guard building, machining, machine assembly, commissioning, and documentation.
About the Role
We are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to work alongside Automation Technicians, producing electrical wiring diagrams for control systems.

Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship)
Desirable:
- Strong knowledge of EPLAN P8 and Pro Panel 3D
- EPLAN Certified Engineer (ECE) qualification
- Experience with automated production machinery or similar capital equipment
- Previous work in a project-based environment within cross-functional teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the ongoing transition from AutoCAD to EPLAN, collaborating with the Automation Department to standardize working methods and drawing standards
- Generate electrical drawings and panel layouts, along with supporting electrical documentation (Bill of Materials, Component Lists, Cable Schedules, Terminal Rail Layouts, etc.)
- Ensure electrical drawings are updated promptly throughout the project lifecycle and shared with relevant departments
- Maintain a database of preferred electrical devices to ensure consistency in functional hardware across projects
