A client of ours in the Basildon area are recruiting an Import Customs Clerk to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm and paying 26,000 - 28,500 per annum depending on experience.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
- Complete customs declarations for import/export clearance processes.
- Provide admin support to the Customs Clearing/Multimodal Team.
- Handle daily Customs Clearing and entries for air, sea, and road shipments, including EADs & T1s, ensuring correct documentation.
- Ensure accurate data input and respond to customer enquiries.
- Communicate with external organisations (HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers, etc).
- Obtain Bill of Ladings, correct Tariff Headings and payments from customers.
- Calculate Duty/VAT costs for consignments.
- Processing Import/Export declarations
- Dealing with general enquiries concerning all areas relating to customs procedures, tariff classifications, duty rates and any other documentation requirements.
- Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
- Collaborate with multiple departments to prepare a daily list of shipments requiring customs entries.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Customs Clerk position:
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of Import Customs
- 2+ years' experience within logistics distribution and supply chain or a similar role essential to be considered
- Practical experience of dealing with EAD's, T1's, POA and Transit Documents
- Experience in using Descarte, Destin8 & CNS systems
- High attention to detail
