Our leading NVOCC client, who provides global import/export services, is currently looking to appoint an Import Customer Service/Customs professional to join their busy team in Basildon.

As Import Customer Service/Customs, you will be responsible for supporting the Operators with their specific trade lanes. The role requires someone who considers themselves to be very organised, proactive and Customer friendly to ensure the best possible service to our customers.

A typical day will involve handling delivery requests from CFS to door, including assisting with any spot rate enquiries from customers.  You will be working with the Operators closely to ensure both aspects of the department runs smoothly.

Import Customer Service/Customs duties include:

  • Monitoring and actioning emails from origin offices, agents, clients, and vendors on a daily basis in relation to the tasks set out within the role.
  • Handling of all Delivery requests for the Import Team and any queries that are related to this portion of the movement.
  • Handling of all Routed bookings placed in the UK which will include placing the initial booking through the internal system to notify origin, updating the customer frequently with the current status, providing the draft bl for checking and ensuring Shipped on Board and Final bl is proactively provided upon sailing.
  • Handling of all Import Customs Clearances for our Prepaid DAP/DDP Shipments.
  • Answer phone calls from clients and vendors daily and promptly, also returning calls for any messages left in voicemail.
  • Maximizing revenue through value "add on" and working efficiently to minimize errors and unnecessary costs.
