A thriving primary school in Basildon is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASD Specialist to support children in their Nursery and Reception (EYFS) classes. This is a full-time, long-term role for the entire academic year, offering a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in young learners' lives.
Role Overview
The school is looking for a dedicated, patient, and enthusiastic individual to provide 1:1 support to a non-verbal child with ASD in the Early Years setting. The role involves both academic and well-being support, ensuring the child can engage effectively with learning and social activities.
Job Details
- Position: Nursery / Reception (EYFS) ASD Specialist
- Location: Basildon, Essex
- Contract: Full-time, full academic year
- Start Date: ASAP
- Salary: £83.33 - £100 per day
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 support in a Reception class
- Assisting with phonics, spelling, reading, and writing in small groups and individual sessions
- Delivering creative and sensory-based learning activities
- Supporting non-verbal communication, with MAKATON experience preferred
- Offering personal care as required
Requirements
The school is seeking candidates with:
- A degree from a reputable university
- A strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum
- Experience or knowledge of working with non-verbal ASD students
- A positive and engaging approach to learning support
- The ability to work effectively within a large team
