Transport Manager - Job Profile

Our client is seeking a skilled and CPC Qualified Transport Manager to join their team in Basildon. The role involves managing a fleet of 20-30 company owned trucks along with ad hoc sub-contractors, primarily overseeing container traffic from London Gateway, Tilbury, Felixstowe, and Southampton. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport management, port operations, and a customer-focused approach.

Transport Manager - Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's own fleet of trucks, ensuring smooth and efficient transport of container traffic from multiple UK ports.
• Manage and coordinate with external subcontractors to handle varying transport demands.
• Using Port & Depot Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS) and TOPS software.
• Ensure full compliance with all transport regulations and maintain high safety standards for both drivers and vehicles.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing timely updates and addressing any concerns to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Collaborate with the existing Fleet Manager and Traffic Assistants and provide HR support and development to the driving team.

Transport Manager - Job Requirements

• Understanding of Active Refrigeration (Gen Set) movements is highly advantageous.
• Valid Transport Manager CPC Qualification.
• In-depth knowledge of Port VBS systems and experience with TOPS software.
• Proven experience in managing a transport fleet and subcontractor network.
• Strong HR and people management skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some out-of-hours availability.

Transport Manager - Job Remunerations

• Monday - Friday
• 45,000 - 60,000 DOE
• 8:00 - 17:00 - Flexible start and finish
• Some weekend work and on call required
