Premier Work Support's Client is looking for a Road Operations Manager (full-time, permanent) for their office based in Basildon. This role is suited to someone with extensive experience in freight forwarding and managing a small team of drivers and planners. This role involves working closely with the Branch Managers to meet the daily needs of their Road Freight Operations and client base.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Manage the daily Road operations (UK & European) for all clients.
- Manage and negotiate with clients regarding documentation, delivery, and freight charges.
- Respond to clients in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaise with Branch Managers and all staff on special projects, rate agreements, SLA, or SOPs from our client base involving road transport.
- Manage all company Road suppliers, ensuring quality service levels at competitive costs.
- Provide weekly/monthly reporting to Branch Managers for all Road shipments.
- Ensure the Road Transport department completes and closes all raised jobs in Cargowise.
- Coordinate and communicate closely with all shipment coordinators regarding pertinent vehicle information and timings using current transport booking procedures.
- Ensure customers and shipment coordinators have all required documents, such as PODs and invoices.
- Invoice and accrue on all jobs in a timely manner, working with Branch Managers, Accounts, and Operations.
- Responsible for Road transport P&L.

- Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
