  • A market-leading Defence client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on the Mechanical Design of next-generation Electro-Optic & RF Products.
  • The role requires compliance with engineering solutions throughout the Engineering Lifecycle and hands-on involvement in practical implementation and design of experiments.
  • Candidates must have experience in designing for harsh environments and managing Bill of Materials, as well as proficiency in 3D CAD software (PTC Creo).
  • The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in mechanical engineering for Electronic Optic Products and related numerical calculations.

A market leading Defence client of ours is currently looking for Senior Mechanical Engineer to come on board and work on the Mechanical Design of the next generation of Electro-Optic & RF Products.

What you'll do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer:

  • Compliance of Mechanical Engineering solutions through the entire Engineering Lifecycle, ensuring that the solutions consider all requirements including product quality, safety, reliability, etc.
  • Mechanical Engineering detailed design; including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
  • Support to successful resolution of technical investigations.
  • Contributing to reviews of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
  • Hands on involvement in practical implementation of development builds and Design of Experiments.
  • Providing support during the introduction of new product into the Development/Production lifecycle phase.

Must Have's

  • An understanding of design for 'harsh environments' including Shock, Vibration, EMC, salt fog, etc.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management
  • Detail and assembly drawing generation, in accordance with BS8888.
  • Experienced in the integration of Printed Circuit Boards within a mechanical structure, with proven knowledge of electrical screening, grounding, etc.
  • Experienced in various aspects of DfX, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability.
  • Mechanical engineering for Electronic Optic Products
  • Numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
  • Perform 'hands on' mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software (PTC Creo).
  • Thermal management techniques of power dense Electronic Products.
