The company:

Based in South Essex, you will be joining a well-known manufacturing company which specialises in the design, manufacturing, building and installation of automated machinery working in several industries.


Due to large expansion, the company is now looking for an experienced Mechanical/Engineering manager to oversee and run the mechanical technician/equipment department, helping the company continue to progress and grow.


The manager will be based in the factory and be responsible for leading the engineering team, assigning and monitoring tasks and customer visits, ensuring the smooth operation of all mechanical equipment build processes, facilitating workflow and necessary resources and driving efficiency and innovation in production.


Job responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the team of mechanical & equipment technicians
  • Assign daily and weekly tasks, whilst monitoring the performance against KPI's and targets
  • Training of new staff and development of existing members of staff
  • Work with the operations manager to work to deadlines and resourcing engineering activities
  • Discover and develop production processes to help improve and streamline processes

This is just a summed-up list, and other responsibilities and tasks will be required.


Skills and Experience required:

  • Previous experience within a similar role, within a fast-paced manufacturing/engineering environment
  • A degree in Engineering or a completed recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong technical and quality management systems knowledge
  • Lean manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
