Premier Work Support's client is looking for a Mechanical Technician for their Basildon office, full-time, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.
We are looking to appoint a Mechanical Technician Manager to manage the team of mechanical technicians in the factory. The manager will be based in the factory and be responsible for leading the engineering team, assigning and monitoring tasks and customer visits, ensuring the smooth operation of all mechanical equipment build processes, facilitating workflow and necessary resources, and driving efficiency and innovation in production. This role requires technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the team of mechanical technicians
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and monitor team performance
- Highlight training needs and ensure skill development
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
- Support the operations manager with timelines and resources for engineering activities
- Analyse production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Act as a liaison between the mechanical engineering team and other departments such as electrical build, production, quality assurance, and procurement
- Report on technical performance, challenges, and project progress to senior management
- Issue complete production orders to the mechanical assembly, shop floor, or electrical manager to progress to assembly/machine build
- Work with the shop floor to maintain an accurate status of production order build and progress
- Liaise with the shop floor to resolve queries with shortages during the assembly of production orders
- Maintain a calm and objective environment where staff can concentrate to make positive progress with their tasks
Qualifications:
- Recognised Engineering certification/apprenticeship
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing or factory environment, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
