Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons, in line with the curriculum (KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5).
  • Foster a passion for literature, reading, and language in students, ensuring they enjoy and value the subject.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs and those working at different levels.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help students achieve their potential.
  • Promote a positive learning environment with high standards of behaviour and respect.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the English curriculum.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, CPD (Continuous Professional Development), and school events.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student welfare and academic success.

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (Essential).
  • A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject (Essential).
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level (Desirable but not essential for NQTs).
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English and the humanities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students, promoting a love for literature and writing.
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and self-improvement.
