Our leading NVOCC client, who provides global import/export services, is currently looking for an experienced Ocean Transport Planner to join their busy Ocean Operations team.  It's a full time, permanent position, working 8:30am - 5pm, based in Basildon.

As Ocean Transport Planner, you'll be maximising utilization within containers, striving to improve productivity and performance, nurturing relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers, and solving problems on a day-to-day basis.

Ocean Transport Planner duties include:

  • Planning jobs / o rganis ing collections with 3rd parties in such a way to be most cost efficient, by better organising collection dates , to positively influence profit
  • Ensuring customer requirements are adhered to (e.g. time-constrained jobs)
  • Ensuring the smooth running of collections and deliveries
  • Following all internal procedures to ensure compliance to all relevant laws and requirements
  • Keeping in regular contact with customers and 3rd party suppliers to monitor journeys and any potential issues, including providing clients information on aspects such as traffic problems
  • Reporting and rectifying any problems as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring all runs are inputted onto Phoenix
  • Arranging transfers between warehouses into loading depots
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of sales invoices, settlements and purchase invoices
  • To be aware of and strive to meet all KPI's as issued by Management

As Ocean Transport Planner, being able to work to deadlines and meet targets go without saying.  A strong understanding of transport legislation is imperative, as well as having proactive problem-solving capability.  First class customer service and communication skills as well as being IT literate are also vital.

We are keen to speak to people who have 2+ years' experience in LCL Transport Planning, with a good level of MS software knowledge as well as awareness of technological developments and tools within the industry.
