As an Experienced SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring they are not just in school - they are truly engaging with their education and progressing. You'll work side by side with teachers to create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Offer tailored, hands-on support to students, helping them overcome emotional and academic barriers.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships, encouraging growth in emotional regulation, social skills, and academic development.
  • Lead or assist with group interventions, ensuring all students feel heard, supported, and motivated.
  • Use de-escalation strategies when needed, remaining calm, patient, and proactive.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing vital feedback and celebrating each student's achievements.

What You Bring to the Table:

You're someone who has a deep understanding of the unique challenges SEMH students face, and you bring a compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to every situation. You're passionate about supporting young people's growth and well-being and have the skills to back it up.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • An empathetic, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the confidence to implement them.
