We are a compassionate and forward-thinking school based in Basildon, dedicated to providing outstanding education and support to children with special educational needs (SEN). We are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and work closely with a child who has specific learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real, positive difference in a child's educational journey and be part of a supportive and inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with SEN, assisting them with their learning and development.
  • Adapt and modify classroom activities to suit the child's individual needs and abilities.
  • Help the child engage with the curriculum and ensure they are fully included in class activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement effective support strategies.
  • Assist with personal care and/or mobility needs if required.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for the child.
  • Support the child in building social and emotional skills, promoting confidence and independence.

About You:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably with SEN (Essential).
  • A patient, caring, and compassionate approach to working with children.
  • A good understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, or other related needs (Desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children, helping them to feel confident and supported.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a focus on achieving the best outcomes for the child.
