We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Consolidation Accountant to join Sovereign Network Group (SNG) on a fixed term basis for 12 months. You'll be based from our head office in Basingstoke, combining office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

It's an exciting time to join us as Sovereign have joined forceswith Network Homes to form SNG. Together we provide over 84,000 homes and invest in communities across London and the South of England - our purpose being to provide quality affordable homes and places that people love for generations.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of FP&A, you'll be responsible for delivering highly specialised accountancysupport services to SNG, covering the full range of complex financial accounting and non-financialresponsibilities, as well as supporting on integration projects where they overlap withgroup reporting.

As we continue to integrate, you'll review areas that are changing and developing to ensure we are correctly accounting for items, including the review of current practices within the individual entities and ensuring alignment and appropriateconsolidation of financial information and non-financialinformation. You'll work with the team to ensure robust inter-companyaccounting procedures are in place and adhered to across SNG and that all inter-companyaccounts are reconciled with other subsidiary companies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing the integrity of the new entities' general ledger and providing efficient and effective control over managementaccounts production, statutoryaccounts production and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Working closely withSNGmanagementaccounting teams to consolidate and produce the monthly managementaccounts for all of SNG's activities to ensure timely and accurate submission to the Executive Board
  • Preparing the consolidated budgets for the Sovereign Network Group for reporting on a monthly and annual basis withcommentary
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of quarterly consolidationstatutory returns for fixed assets and other fixed assets
  • Supporting the preparation and production of the annual statutoryaccounts for the consolidatedGroup of companies
  • Working closely with the Finance teams on the production of year-end statutoryaccountstogetherwithconsolidatedstatutorygroupaccounts for SNG, providing advice and opinion to senior stakeholders on these accounts as required

What we need from you

You'll be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)withdemonstrable experience in a similar senior accounting role, ideally within a large or complex organisation. A good understanding of relevant legislation and accountingprinciples for Housing Associations is highly desirable. You'll also need:

  • Strong, clear working knowledge of processes and controls surrounding financial accounting and management account preparation, including detailed report writing and analysis
  • Proven track record of senior stakeholdermanagement and collaboration
  • Have experience in consolidation and bringing togetheraccounts through merger and integrationactivities
  • Experience working in a changing and continuously improving environment
  • A strong, clear working knowledge of managementinformation report writing and design, including detailed variance analysis
  • Knowledge of methods to monitor the quality of data and identify issues, propose resolutions and follow through with actions to resolve
  • Experience in traditional and modern ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills would be advantageous
