We are seeking a VMware Specialist to play a crucial role in the creation of a Platform as a Service (PaaS) using advanced VMware technologies. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to architect, deploy, and optimise virtualised environments tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients.
Day-to-day of the role:- Design and implement VMware-based PaaS solutions according to client requirements and industry best practices.
- Configure and optimise VMware vRealize Orchestrator (VRO) workflows for automating provisioning, deployment, and management tasks.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the infrastructure required, working closely with Network Architect, Storage Architect, and the SIEM Architect.
- Work with storage solutions covering NFS and iSCSI.
- Utilise CI/CD pipeline automation for building and change through all parts of the infrastructure build-out.
- Configure and optimise Storage DRS, VMhost DRS, and Affinity Rules.
- Provide technical expertise and support during the testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to VMware infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures, and technical guides.
- Stay updated on emerging VMware technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Automate ESXi hosts build out along with lifecycle management for patching of ESXi.
- Attend regular JIRA “ceremonies” or other project meetings to communicate and input from a Test perspective.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and optimising VMware-based PaaS solutions, specifically with technologies like vRealize Orchestrator (VRO), VMware Cloud Director (VCD), and NSX-T.
- Hands-on experience in configuring and optimising VMware vRealize Orchestrator (VRO) workflows for automating provisioning, deployment, and management tasks, along with ESXi host lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, including close collaboration with Network, Storage, and SIEM Architects.
- Experience in working with NFS and iSCSI storage solutions.
- Experience in using CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure buildouts and facilitate efficient changes throughout the deployment lifecycle.
- Familiarity with CIS benchmarking to maintain security best practices across technologies.
