We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Company Secretary to joinour Governance team at SNG on a Fixed Term Contract until April 2025. You’ll be based from our head office in Basingstoke, with the flexibility to combine home and office working.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Governance & Group Company Secretary, you will be providing Corporate Governance services and advice to all SNG’s group companies and LLPs. You’ll be the first point of contact for Board and Committee members, advising on company law and governance best practice.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Head of Governance & Group Company Secretary on governance projects, and deputising to cover absence as required
  • Overseeing Board, Committee and Shareholder meetings, as well as providing day to day management and direction to our Governance Officers and Administrators
  • Minuting senior level corporate meetings and coordinating agenda preparation and board papers
  • Overseeing the maintenance of Corporate Registers and company records
  • Ensuring the team effectively prioritises tasks and manages deadlines

About you

Ideally, you'll be ICSA or CGI Qualified or Part Qualified. You should have previous experience working in a similar role within Governance. You should have a strong understanding of company law and governance best practice, preferably with experience of working in a regulated environment. You'll also:

  • Be confident in communicating with senior stakeholders at Executive and Board level, and able to support good decision making
  • Have a high attention to detail and be able to work with discretion, as you'll be handling information which may be sensitive or confidential in nature
  • Show experience in writing high quality minutes for corporate meetings, particularly Board meetings
  • Show strong initiative, curiosity, and drive through your work
  • Be resilient, intuitive and possess strong relationship building and influential skills
