Are you interested in a finance role working on regeneration projects, events and engagement?

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join a dedicated and dynamic team, working on major regeneration projects, economy & culture and business engagement. You will play a major role in making the best use of their considerable assets to build an even brighter future for residents and businesses.

Having invested well over the long-term, this is one of the most financially resilient councils in the country. The council has set a two-year balanced budget for 2024/25 and 2025/26 that includes significant investment in our front-line services and an ongoing large capital programme.

You will be the financial advisor to the stakeholders for assigned service areas. You will have a clear understanding of the financial management arrangements of the service areas and the wider impact on the council - from budget setting to in year control and support to the financial accounts as necessary. You will ensure the services maintain high standards of financial management that comply with the Council’s financial regulations, policies, and procedures.

You will undertake and be responsible for three main areas of focus - Stakeholder engagement and management, financial management and the supporting of business cases.

Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with relevant Directors, Heads of Service and Budget Managers, you will be helping to improve financial awareness and provide accurate and credible advice on financial management and wider governance issues.

Co-ordinating assigned directorate’s annual financial planning activity, you will provide information and advice to support option analysis, decision making and effective financial control in year and provide constructive challenge and decision making support that adds value.

Ideally, we are very keen on speaking with CCAB Qualified Accountants with strong finance business partnering experience at a local authority or similar, with projects, capital and regeneration experience being highly beneficial.

However, we are also very happy to hear from individuals in their final year of a qualifications, or recently qualified accountants with strong budget monitoring and management accounting experience. And although backgrounds from the public sector are preferred, we are open minded on applications from the commercial sector.
