This brilliant engineering firm provides a crucial service across utilities, pharma, and hospitality sectors, while supporting positive environmental management.
Ideally suited to an experienced SME Finance Manager, It's a critical role that requires a hands-on, cool-headed finance lead, to handover from the exiting finance manager, and hand on to the newly appointed finance manager. There is of course scope to take up the position yourself too!
Collaborating with the MD and other key stakeholders, you'll primarily be responsible for the day to day running of the finance function, while using your keen eye for detail to identify opportunities to make improvements across, process, systems, and people.
You'll developing a strong control environment for the accurate production of management information for the board. Supporting data-lead strategic decision making across the business.
Regular duties will include but are not being limited to:
- Support in preparation & review of the weekly business unit forecast.
- Monthly support and review of reporting of KPI's, P&L reviews and associated commentary.
- Analysis and review of expenditure within the business unit.
- Review and support in tender submissions.
- Business partnering support to key stakeholders across the company, attendance across sites a key measure in building trusted relationships.
- Month end processes, such as accruals and prepayments, WIP reviews and performance reporting.
- Support and review of key elements of the budgeting process.
- Review and support around WIP level, aged debts etc and be a key challenge to performance across the division.
- Ensure compliance with financial processes.
- Analysis of capital expenditure requests.
- Financial management of large projects to ensure costs and revenue are on track.
- Ensure invoicing is done in a timely manner.
- Supervision of payroll submissions.
- Adhoc analysis as required.
- Continually seek to improve processes and drive efficiency.
Person Specification
- Comfortable as part of a small but growing team, building a first-class finance function.
- Flexible, proactive hands-on approach
- Experience to support the development of processes and systems which will enable the business to grow in a structured manner.
- Confident in taking ownership of the role, working autonomously
- Commercial aptitude
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant
- Exposure to a previous SME business would be an advantage
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Detail oriented
