Sonic Summary
- We are currently hiring for a Network Design Engineer position in Basingstoke.
- This permanent role offers a salary between £50K - £60K plus bonus and benefits, depending on experience.
- Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing energy-efficient network solutions and must hold or be eligible for SC Clearance.
- The role requires strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, as well as familiarity with OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing protocols.

As a Network Design Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, planning, and creating both high and low-level design artefacts for complex network solutions. You'll work closely with our customers to develop compelling designs that meet their requirements, automate deployment where possible, and provide expert-level support through to resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Design high-quality network solutions and produce professional documentation.
- Develop architectural overview documents and detailed high-level and low-level designs.
- Automate deployment of network configurations and software components.
- Provide 4th Line support directly with vendors to ensure successful resolution.
- Conduct impact assessments and maintain solutions throughout the Customer Solution
Lifecycle.
Skills Required:
- Strong experience with Cisco routing and switching appliances.
- Deep understanding of OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing protocols.
- Knowledge of NAT, GRE Tunnelling, DMVPN, Subnetting.
- Experience with secure infrastructure solutions.
- Previous experience with Juniper SRX and Fortinet FortiGate would be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with Cisco ASA and McAfee MFE appliances would be an added advantage.
