We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in the Oil and Gas Industry or valve design and manufacturing to join our client. This role demands someone with overall technical authority over all product drawings, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and high-quality standards across all product documentation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to review and refine current bills of materials, tidying them up, and standardising products and components into clear and manageable documents.

The role will require someone with knowledge of materials and specifications related to the oil and gas industry, as well as a strong ability to engage with customers globally to provide the most efficient engineering solutions. You will act as the main point of contact for all technical aspects of the design, liaising across teams to ensure that all product specifications are met.

Responsibilities:

Product Drawing and Design Ownership:

  • Hold overall technical authority over all product drawings and documentation.
  • Review and tidy current bills of materials (BOMs), ensuring they are standardised and organised for easy management and consistency.
  • Develop clear and manageable documents that reflect technical precision and alignment with project goals.

Design and Development:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop current products, ensuring they meet performance targets and client specifications.
  • Apply engineering principles to optimise product design for efficiency, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Work with the team to identify material requirements and specification standards for designs.

Sales and Engineering Liaison:

  • Act as a key liaison between sales and engineering teams, ensuring alignment on customer needs, technical feasibility, and design solutions.
  • Regularly engage with global customers, understanding their requirements and delivering the best engineering solutions.

Material Specification and Application:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of materials and their specifications, particularly in relation to the oil and gas industry.
  • Assess product applications and collaborate with clients to ensure the most effective material and product design choices are made.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations such as ASME, ASTM, BS, and EN.
  • Navigate the regulatory landscape specific to valve manufacturing, ensuring designs meet safety, quality, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful mechanical design solutions, particularly in oil and gas.
  • Experience working with pneumatic systems, hydraulics, and valve design in regulated industries (oil and gas, aerospace, petrochemical).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and engage effectively with customers globally.
  • Ability to evaluate and refine technical specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and quality.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Hampshire
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge valve designs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
