Role - Senior Project Manager (Defence and government)
Location: Basingstoke, UK
Working Pattern: 2-3 days per week Onsite (Basingstoke)
Day Rate: 650 per day
Clearance Requirement: DV Clearance required
Brief Overview of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong track record in delivering Transition and Transformation projects, ideally within the Defence and National Security sector. This role involves managing complex projects for a key public sector client, ensuring compliance, customer satisfaction, and seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements Definition & Alignment: Define project requirements, manage agreements on objectives, and align with Project Board or appointed assurance roles.
- Project Delivery: Lead project execution in partnership with the customer, ensuring successful handover to service teams and seamless project closure.
- Compliance & Methodology: Operate within established practices, adhering to project management policies and methodologies.
- Team Coordination & Reporting: Gather status reports from team members, establish project KPIs, and report progress to the Project Board.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, creating effective mitigation plans to ensure agreed timelines and budget adherence.
- Financial Integration & Accountability: Integrate financial data for multiple projects, tracking project costs and ensuring milestone achievements are documented and invoiced accurately.
- Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with both customer and internal stakeholders, managing challenging environments and aligning project deliverables with organizational goals.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Project Management Expertise: Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, preferably in Defence & National Security projects.
- Transition & Transformation Delivery: Strong background in successfully managing large-scale transition and transformation projects.
- Financial & Risk Management: Robust financial management and risk assessment abilities, ensuring clear visibility on costs, timelines, and project impacts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building relationships and managing diverse, complex stakeholders effectively.
