We are looking for a Junior Buyer to join our clients team, a successful growing business in the Basingstoke area.Junior BuyerBasingstokeManufacturingPermanentMissionThe Junior Buyer is responsible for assisting in the costing and procurement of electronic components, materials, and services to support production. They work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and senior buyers to ensure the timely and cost-effective purchase of quality goods. Accountabilities/AuthoritiesAuthorised to sign Purchase Orders up to authorised limits as per purchasing departmental operating procedure. Responsibilities• Procurement & Sourcing: • Assist in the sourcing, costing and purchasing of electronic components, raw materials and production supplies.• Develop relationships with suppliers, negotiate prices, and ensure on-time deliveries.• Participate in regular service update calls with suppliers to review trends and common areas of issues, including SLA breaches and recent incidents.• Support processes such as supplier onboarding, evaluations, and audits.• Support with company quotations and pricing exercises from a procurement perspective.Inventory Control: • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with production and logistics teams to prevent shortages.• Ensure kanban items have stock replenished in adequate time.Cost Optimisation: • Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for better pricing and terms.• Contribute to the end-to-end procurement process; delivering cost savings, spend management and driving innovation (PPV).Order Processing: • Raise purchase orders, track deliveries, and update procurement records in ERP/MRP systems.• Actively progress chase open orders and ensure ERP/MRP systems are constantly updated.• Ensure data within ERP/MRP systems are aligned when OOR’s are received from suppliers.Quality & Compliance: • Ensure that purchased materials meet industry standards and company quality requirements (e.g. ROHS, REACH etc).Administrative Support: • Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts and supplier details.• Maintain MRP cost and lead time data for all components and services, flagging any deviations to the senior buyer.• Assist with preparing reports outlining key performance indicators (past due reports, quoted vs actual reports etc).Market Research: • Stay updated on component availability, lead times, and market trends to support procurement decisions.Cross-Functional Collaboration: • Work with engineering, production, and finance teams to align purchasing with business needs.• Active participation in production planning activity ensuring any supply delays are immediately communicated to the planner.• Actively contribute to strategic initiatives across the company.
