Job Purpose
To plan all non-project work orders & purchase orders for production and procurement.

Duties and key responsibilities
* Generate and analyse the appropriate reports to determine production capacity.
* Receive customer orders and enquiries from the Sales Department.
* Raise work orders & purchase orders to agree delivery dates in line with customer requirements and available production capacity in line with TOC.
* Return customer orders and enquiries to the Sales Department.
* Generate and distribute works orders on a weekly basis.
* Advise on make or buy decisions to minimise customer lead times.
* Place orders on 'virtual workcentres'.
* Develop the visual workcentres as we purchase planning modules.
* Provide cover for other members of the planning & procurement team.

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 / HND level qualifications desirable but not essential if time served as a materials or production planner.

Experience
* Previous materials or production planner experience in a manufacturing environment essential.
* Knowledge/experience of importing desirable.

* The ability to follow procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
* Communication skills.
* Project management skills.
* Planning & co-ordination skills.
