An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join one of the leading SME contractors in the Southeast of England. The role involves managing the commercial aspects of various live schemes within our existing frameworks, including building refurbishment and highways maintenance, with opportunities to assist in the delivery of various railway projects.



Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and comment on the latest programmes while providing accurate forecasts.
  • Compile, review, and submit periodic applications to the client.
  • Evaluate and negotiate applications and contracts with suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage variations, valuations, and final accounts for both the client and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide cost advice and feasibility assessments.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, financial statements, and other documentation as required.
  • Interface with the client and engage regularly with the commercial counterpart.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Experience in building refurbishments, rail, and highways sectors is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient IT skills and ability to use Microsoft packages with good report writing skills.
