We are working with a leader in the fresh produce industry, known for its commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. They operate across various regions and divisions, ensuring the highest standards in all our operations

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated ESG & Compliance Manager to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for developing and delivering their retailer-facing ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with retailer ESG targets, and maintaining compliance with ethical standards in the UK. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with retailers' ESG departments, becoming their trusted partner and 'go-to' expert.

Key Responsibilities:
Represent the business on trade bodies such as Fresh Produce Consortium & FNET
Attend retailer conferences and meetings to ensure alignment of ESG strategies
Ensure compliance with ethical audits, human rights, and environmental due diligence across supply chains
Keep retailer grower lists updated and relevant ESG data monitored and reported
Focus on and report retailer projects on social and environmental issues
Set up and discuss retailer-specific reporting for GHG, Living Wage, Fairtrade, and Rainforest premium use
Manage annual labour supplier audits for compliance with labour provider standards
Present up-to-date ESG data and reports to retailers, including farm and supplier practices
Continuously improve ESG strategies and lead on best-in-class ESG practices
Maintain up-to-date ESG & Certification policies & procedures

Requirements:
Experience with M2030
Understanding of packaging waste regulations (plastics and paper)
Working knowledge of SMETA, Fairtrade, Rainforest certifications (LEAF certification is an advantage)
Experience in climate target reporting (carbon and GHG emissions)
Ability to work independently within a retailer-facing team
Qualifications:
Preferably educated to degree level
Previous experience in an ESG role, preferably at a managerial level
Previous experience within an FMCG organisation; experience in fresh produce or retailer organisation is advantageous
Excellent presentation skills, particularly with PowerPoint
Excellent data analytical and project management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Spanish skills are advantageous
