About the Role:

GSL Education is looking to hire an enthusiastic Mental Health Support Worker for our team in Basingstoke. We're seeking someone with a deep passion for assisting individuals facing mental health challenges, and who has the experience and dedication to offer both emotional and practical support, fostering personal development and resilience.

Mental Health Support Worker Role:

  • Work closely with students on a one-on-one basis, providing tailored support to meet their unique mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home.
  • Working in classrooms supporting Teachers and fellow Teaching Assistants.

Requirements for Mental Health Support Worker role:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
  •  Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Compassion and empathy for the well-being of children
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

To work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Support Worker, you should: 

  • Have the right to work in the UK. 
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
