Contract

Our client is looking for an experienced Mayoral Support Officer.

Are you an enthusiastic, well-organised person with excellent communications skills?

We are looking for somebody to join the council as a Mayoral Support Assistant. The Mayor is the first citizen of the borough and its Civic Head. The Mayor is responsible, in a non-political way, for furthering the interests of the borough where an appropriate occasion arises. This may include engagements such as formal dinners, official openings of events or new facilities, talking to clubs and societies and visiting schools. The Mayor also hosts visits to the Mayor's Parlour from various organisations and is always happy to receive a request for a visit.

Reporting to the Democratic and Electoral Services Manager, the role supports the Mayoral Events Co-ordinator and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor in organising their engagements day-to-day and supporting the coordination of the major Civic Events. The successful candidate will work closely with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and build professional working relationships with senior council officers, elected councillors and external stakeholders. They will be approachable, professional and assertive. Some evening and weekend working will be required of the role in order to support some events.
