An ambitious, growing SME based in the Bath area are looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of their finance function. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and will involve managing accounting, reporting, payroll, and compliance while driving process improvements. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to support business growth.

The role:

Our client is seeking a skilled finance professional to lead their accounting and reporting functions, ensuring strong systems and processes in a high-volume environment.

Reporting to an experienced Finance Director, you’ll receive support and development opportunities while working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team.

You’ll manage a small finance team, providing daily guidance, leading meetings, and overseeing performance reviews. This is a hands-on role, involving transactional tasks such as payment runs and supplier queries.

Key responsibilities include preparing monthly management accounts, analysing trends, managing year-end processes with external accountants, and ensuring compliance with VAT, HMRC filings, payroll adjustments, and international regulatory requirements.

As the business grows, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to strategic projects, such as process improvements for international expansion and cost-saving contract reviews. Our client also offers professional development support, including study leave and funding for qualifications.

What we’re looking for:

  • Fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
  • Strong ERP and advanced Excel experience
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Background in large-transaction business
  • Experience in a fast-growing or multi-currency environment is a plus
