Job Title: Mortgage Servicing Officer

Location: Bath Hybrid - 2 days in the office and 3 days WFH

Salary: Up to circa 35,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm

About our Client and the role of Mortgage Servicing Officer

We have a new vacancy for an experienced Mortgage Servicing Specialist to join a growing team with a supportive, collaborative Building Society. You will also take responsibility for the arrears process from initial non-payments, agreeing short term forbearance arrangements, through to litigation when required. You will have an empathetic and decisive approach to arrears management.

Responsibilities for the role of Mortgage Servicing Officer

  • Oversee daily tasks of the Post Offer team, ensuring timely completion and managing a weekly rota.
  • Process mortgage completions, liaising with solicitors and customers to meet SLAs.
  • Manage stage and retention releases within agreed timeframes.
  • Handle complaints efficiently and within required timescales.
  • Actively manage arrears cases, communicating with borrowers, agreeing forbearance, and instructing litigation when needed.
  • Identify and monitor vulnerable customers, maintaining appropriate records.
  • Liaise with senior management on high-value or complex cases and meet borrowers when beneficial.
  • Present arrears data at Credit Committee meetings.
  • Maintain and update process guides.
  • Provide redemption statements and process mortgage redemptions.
  • Handle account updates, including address, name, and Direct Debit changes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of procuration fees.
  • Verify required documentation for the Society's charge.
  • Accurately input and maintain records in core systems and document repositories.
  • Deliver high-quality service to Packagers, Brokers, and Direct customers, keeping them informed.
  • Request feedback at key touchpoints.
  • Work closely with underwriters and sales teams for a seamless customer journey.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline, promptly cancelling inactive applications.
  • Collaborate with the Business Change team to ensure departmental needs are met.

Experience required for the role of Mortgage Servicing Officer:

  • Experience in Financial Services, within an arrears or vulnerable customer setting within mortgages or consumer lending is essential.
  • CeMAP qualified, or willing to complete the qualification within an agreed timescale.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and results focused.
  • Good self-management, organisation, and planning skills.
  • Proactive and tenacious, always seeking improvement and opportunities to learn.
  • A 'can do', business enabling approach.
  • Experience of working with Mortgage Origination Platforms and Sopra Banking Software would be desirable.
