Our client's Bath Building Services team continues to deliver cutting-edge design solutions that encourage the efficient use of materials, energy, and natural resources. Their holistic, multidisciplinary design environment affords engineers the freedom and creativity to push the boundaries of sustainable building technology across HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing disciplines. The team collaborates closely with specialist groups such as sustainability & physics, facades, lighting, and technology.
Key Duties
The successful candidate will join a close-knit team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, providing outstanding design engineering services on a range of interesting projects while working closely with other engineers and associates. They will take ownership of delivering sustainable and innovative design solutions for building services projects led by the Bath office and contribute to a portfolio of international projects.
The role of a Senior Mechanical Engineer includes, but is not limited to:
Undertaking detailed mechanical engineering building services design and calculations, using Revit and IES software to support knowledge of exemplar building design and performance, with an appreciation of a designs embodied carbon.
Embracing technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net zero targets by 2030.
Ensuring projects are delivered to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budgets.
Representing the team at meetings with clients, other professionals, and suppliers.
Producing and reviewing reports, presentations, models, and drawings to a high standard of accuracy and quality.
Preparing technical specifications and schedules, design development reports, and innovative design solutions.
Planning and managing input to Revit for the production of design work.
Actively engaging with colleagues across disciplines, in group discussions, and at events and seminars.
Mentoring more junior team members, potentially taking on an early line management role.
Representing the team autonomously to clients, architects, and collaborators.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Relevant building services experience or credentials to support the delivery of highly sustainable buildings.
Experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.
Broad design knowledge gained from working on a wide range of projects and familiarity with British, US, and European codes of practice.
Proficiency with common analysis software, including Revit and IES, with a willingness to learn new analysis packages as needed.
Digital engineering skills (e.g., coding) would be advantageous.
Working towards or already holding Chartered Membership of CIBSE or an equivalent body.
A Bachelor's degree (BEng/BSc) or Master's degree (MEng/MSc) in a relevant discipline.
