Electrical Days Process Technician/Maintenance Engineer- Bathford

Job Purpose

The Electrical Days Process Technician / Maintenance Engineer will support the Electrical Department in ensuring safe and effective inspection, testing, repair, installation, upgrades, and continuous improvement of all site-wide electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment. This role is essential in supporting the Engineering and Production teams in both planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted production operations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct planned preventative, remedial, and reactive maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment.

Apply effective fault-finding and investigation techniques to quickly resolve issues, ensuring optimal machine utilization and minimal production downtime.

Perform hardware and software updates, diagnostics, and maintenance of the Rockwell Factory Talk platform, including Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell SCADA.

Implement upgrades and modifications to electrical and process control systems to enhance performance and functionality.

Diagnose plant-related process and engineering conditions and work with shift personnel to resolve complex engineering challenges.

Collaborate with the engineering team to improve productivity and efficiency while recommending capital expenditures for long-term growth.

Assist the Project Team in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and CAPEX projects.

Maintain accurate work history in the CMMS system and identify necessary follow-up actions.

Uphold high standards of housekeeping, risk assessments, cleanliness, and 5S practices in the department.

Participate fully in the Performance Development Review (PDR) process and maintain records of all training and development activities.

Supervise and direct contractors for both maintenance and project-related tasks.

Serve as a member of the engineering on-call team, providing support for shift engineers and Bathford Mill outside of standard working hours.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

BTEC ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Electronics (or equivalent qualification).

Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship or equivalent, including a recognized electrical qualification (C&G/NVQ standard).

Proven experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA, including PLC modifications.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for process control field equipment.

Knowledge of relevant engineering regulations, such as BS7671:2018.

Experience in process or manufacturing within a continuous production environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with AC and DC variable speed drives.

Willingness to undergo further training to meet business needs.

Good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (additional IT skills are an advantage).

Salary & Shift Pattern

Salary: £41,000 + £4,000 call-out allowance (£45,000 total).

Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00 and Friday: 08:00 - 15:00

On-call duty will begin after 3-6 months of training.

Call-out schedule: 24/7 (Monday - Friday), with a 1.5x pay rate for call-outs.
