Your new companyA growing public sector organisation that is looking to establish a procurement function into their finance department.Your new role

  • This includes managing low-level, below-threshold procurements for a wide range of goods and services for the organisation.
  • You will develop and implement procurement strategies, manage relationships with stakeholders, and oversee procurement and tendering processes to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks.
  • You will maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for procurement projects, manage contract negotiations and renewals, and provide technical advice and training to team members.
  • You will support budget managers in obtaining the best value for money and implementing fraud prevention measures.
  • You will liaise with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and continuous improvement.
  • You will be responsible for establishing and enhancing the approach to cost savings across all operations, ensuring efficient budget management and compliance with public regulations.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of managing low-level, below-threshold procurements, with knowledge of procurement best practices
  • Ability to oversee procurement and tendering processes across a variety of indirect categories
  • Strong budget management skills.
  • Understanding of public procurement regulations (PA23)
  • Experience in cost-saving initiatives and value for money (VfM) practices.
  • Ability to manage contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Experience in maintaining documentation and audit trails for procurement projects.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
