Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Specialist Drug & Alcohol Support Worker (Domestic Abuse and Domestic violence) based in Bath.

The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive, holistic needs assessment, support planning, progress monitoring and review for clients with a range of complex, social and housing need. The post holder is responsible for delivering support to service users with complex needs who have experienced domestic abuse and been provided with short term, emergency refuge accommodation.

This is a full-time 37.5 hours, fixed term contract (Ending July 2025) role offering a salary of £25,500 per annuum. (Participation in an on-call, out-of-hours rota)

You must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Refer clients who are experiencing drug and/or alcohol difficulties to DHI for treatments and support
  • Complete needs/risk assessments for clients leading to the delivery of tailored support plans
  • Assist with client move ins/outs to minimise void times.
  • Complete a support plan with individual service users and provide the necessary support as identified in the plan.
  • Assist and encourage service users to make their own decisions and choices, where appropriate.
  • Support and empower clients who have multiple and complex needs who experience domestic abuse to live safe, independent lives.
  • Maintain records in line with the service operational procedures.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies and, with the agreement of the service user, act as an advocate with those agencies on the service user’s behalf.
  • Develop and sustain professional relationships with service users and appropriate external agencies.
  • Positively promote the service to external agencies and the relevant statutory bodies.
  • Take responsibility to ensure that latest developments in best practice, legislative and other changes in working with people who have experienced domestic abuse are shared with the wider staff team.
  • Ensure that any safeguarding concerns or potential concerns are appropriately identified and addressed.
  • To be the main contact between ourselves and our partner agency
  • Refer clients who are experiencing drug or alcohol difficulties a partnership agency for treatment and support when appropriate to do so.

Person Specification

  • Have full driving license and access to own car.
  • Good knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, email and basic spread sheets.
  • Health or Social Care qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Understanding of the nature of domestic violence, and the impact it has on survivors and their children
  • Understanding of Safeguarding adults
  • Understanding of Benefits and Housing Benefits system
  • Specific knowledge and skills relating to Domestic Abuse
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs e.g., substance misuse and/or mental health
  • Experience of assessing the safety needs of people experiencing domestic violence
  • Working as part of a team in a social or health care setting
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs, for example, substance misuse, mental health
  • Understanding of the nature of domestic violence and the impact it has on survivors and their children
